Suntar Membrane System

Microtubular Membrane

The microtubular membrane, with a pore size ranging from 3000Da to 0.45μm, is a porous homogeneous membrane which can be made from materials including but not limited to polysulfone, polyvinylidene fluoride, polyacrylonitrile and polyethylene. It can be used in microfiltration and ultrafiltration with an internal diameter of 0.7mm to 2.6mm. Membranes of different pore sizes and internal diameters can be chosen by evaluating criteria such as the viscosity of the treated liquid and suspended solid content to achieve clarification and separation.

Suntar’s microtubular membrane systems are capable of operating in continuous condition and fully automated with precise cleaning and backwash capabilities.

Wine

Wine is a beverage made by the fermentation of fresh grape and grape juice. Wine manufacturer has incorporated membrane separation technology, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, to improve the current wine production process.

In 1984, the Israeli“ Grape and Wine Technology Research Institute” studied the crossflow filtration of grape juice and wine before fermentation. The results are as follows:

  • Impurities ratio by volume before filtration is 2.5% ‒ 5%;
  • Reduce polyphenol content of red wine, thus reducing its colour;
  • Filtration of wine before stabilization treatment helps with tartar precipitation;
  • Remove unstable proteins. Research results in France also proved this phenomenon: The effect of crossflow filtration to remove protein is equivalent to the effect of bentonite treatment.
  • Remove large amount of polysaccharide
